Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace has made history as the first Bahamian swimmer to reach an Olympic final. Swimming in Heat 1 of the Women's 50m Freestyle, she finished third in a time of 24.64 to claim her place in tomorrow's final. Marleen Veldhuis of the Netherlands won the heat in 24.50 with Germany's Britta Steffen second with 24.57.
Sheniqua Ferguson also kept her medal hopes alive with a third place finish (11.:35) in the Women's 100m. She now moves into the semis.
Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie finished fifth in her 100m Heat and will now focus on the 200m and the 4 x 100 relay.
Raymond Higgs was ninth in Group B of the Long Jump with 7.76 from his second jump, but fell short of the qualifying mark.
