POLICE are on the hunt for a man suspected of shooting and killing 30-year-old Ramon Thompson, alias ‘Mon’, late Wednesday night.

Police say Ramon was in open yard on East Street north of Coconut Groove Ave with several others around 8pm when he was approached by a man he knew.

The suspect and Ramon got into a verbal altercation when the man pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times in the head.

He died at the scene.

Police say Roman was “well known” to them, having been arrested on suspicion of murder, possession of housebreaking implements, shop breaking, stealing, possession of dangerous drugs and several other crimes.

He became the country’s 78th murder victim for the year.

Meanwhile, police have a 21-year-old man in custody in connection with the stabbing death of 22-year-old Jeremy Ryan Webb, also known as “King Ryan”.

According to police, Ryan was killed around 2.15am on Sunday at the regatta site in New Bight, Cat Island, during the 56th annual regatta.

Police say the victim got into an altercation with another man and was stabbed in the abdomen.

He was taken to the Smith’s Bay Clinic where he died.

During the incident, a 25-year-old Bain’s Town, Cat Island man was struck in the head with a bottle.

He was taken to the local clinic and later airlifted to New Providence.

He was admitted to hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

Police are investigating both murders as well as the bottle attack and are appealing to members of the public who may have relevant information to contact police on 919 or 322-3333/4; the Central Detective Unit on 502-9991 or 502-9910; or Crime Stoppers on 328-TIPS.
