AISHA Bowe, an award winning Bahamian-American NASA engineer, will be visiting Nassau as a guest of her grandfather Forester Bowe.

Ms Bowe, a researcher in the Flight Trajectory Dynamics and Controls Branch of the Aviation Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Centre, will be conducting interviews and discussions on the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These discussions will shed light on the importance of STEM for the Bahamas and the greater Caribbean region.

Earlier this year, Ms Bowe led an effort to bring a College of the Bahamas student, Mr Terran Arnold, on a 8-week internship at NASA Ames.

She hopes to convince the government and civic organisations to support other student initiatives like this.

Felicity Ingraham of True Vision Media Group will be co-ordinating her schedule.

The tentative plan is to hold a question and answer session on Thursday evening with students, teachers and parents on STEM and the college application process, after which Ms Bowe will open the forum to general questions.

Ms. Bowe believes the Bahamas and the Caribbean sub-region are strategically placed to contribute in areas such as Earth Science, Remote Sensing, Global Communication links, and more.
