TEAMS are preparing to got to war over autism next month.
And it will be all-out warfare as the combatants race to capture the flag while paintballs whiz past them – or get splattered with a barrage of colourful ammo.
Top Tier Entertainment is hosting a first annual paintball tournament on September 22 on Stapledon Park, in order to raise funds for Resources and Education for Autism and related Challenges (REACH), which works with autistic children and their families.
Top Tier partner, Sean Burrows, said the company is all about promoting families and children, as many of the partners have young ones themselves.
“We wanted to join forces with a kids charity and went with REACH because they are pretty much unknown to the public and have no regular assistance,” said Mr Burrows. “We are trying to get REACH’s name out to the public. Part of the proceeds from the tournament will be given to REACH to fund its activities.”
According to Mr Burrows, several corporate teams have already signed up their regiments to go head-to-head in the paintball arena.
He said each team will consist of seven members in the arena at any one time who can be replaced by three substitutes.
Registration per team is $310, which includes equipment and 2,700 paintballs, Mr Burrows said. He said seeing parents of autistic children struggle to keep up with their responsibilities was a call to action for Top Tier.
“It touched a soft part of us and we might be sticking with them for a while to assist them more,” said Mr Burrows.
Team can register by sending an email to toptierent@gmail.com or visit the group’s site at www.toptierbahamas.com.
