DESPITE two systems churning away in the Atlantic, the Bahamas has little to fear on the storm front according to meteorologists.
Hurricane Kirk, the fifth hurricane of the season, is expected to continue heading west-northwest before curving to the northeast by the weekend, according to AccuWeather.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Leslie developed in the central Atlantic yesterday afternoon, and early projections indicate it will be no threat to land. AccuWeather meteorologist Dan Kottlowski said further development is forecast and Leslie is expected to become a hurricane on Sunday. He said the storm is currently on a west-northwest path which will take it north of the northern Leeward Islands.
Mr Kottlowski said Leslie should stay “well east” of the Bahamas, though some islands could experience ocean swells and rough surf.
