MINISTER of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell has slammed claims that Jack Thompson is to be replaced by William Nottage as Director of Immigration today.
Mr Mitchell said yesterday that the suggestions, which circulated on the internet, were initiated by a ‘nasty site on the web that concocts stories.’
The Tribune received an email with the same information from ‘fnmundercover,’ which is said to have no affiliation with the official Free National Movement (FNM).
FNM leader, Dr Hubert Minnis, said the authors of the email were part of a ‘renegade group’ not connected to his party.
The government also issued a statement yesterday saying: “There is an article circulating on the web from an anonymous source that alleges that Jack Thompson has been replaced as Director of Immigration.
“That is patently false. Mr Thompson remains the Director of Immigration.”
Mr Mitchell said Mr Nottage was currently an advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and that he could not ‘speak to’ any future plans to replace Mr Thompson as Director of Immigration.
