Bank opens new Carmichael branch

BANK of the Bahamas International has officially opened the doors to its brand new Carmichael Road branch this week.

The 5,500 square-foot facility is located just west of MORE94 FM and offers the City 2000 community all of the services its customers use at the 13 other locations and more – including a Creole-speaking staff member.

“The Carmichael Road area is the fastest growing population centre in the nation,” said Patricia James, Carmichael Road branch manager. “It has become a bastion of small businesses, restaurants and retail stores, drawing large crowds of customers from around the neighbourhood, and is the perfect location for us given the vibrant neighbourhood, the number of people who live or work a short distance from the branch and the mix of small and medium-sized businesses in the immediate area.”

Led by a team of female branch managers with Ms James at the helm, the new branch features personal express banking kiosks, a range of services including debt consolidation, consumer loans, wire transfers and a variety of other services.

The branch features a double-height ceiling space at the entrance lobby, overlooked by a mezzanine floor where other bank business units are housed.

Personalised relationship management service spaces have been included in the branch design for more private interactions between bank representatives and customers.

Seven Hills resident Thomas Cooper has been a retiree for the past 20 years, and he visited the branch during the inaugural week. “It’s most convenient. The nearest one (branch) to me was on Harrold Road or Village Road. Now I don’t have to go too far,” he said.

Branch hours are Monday through Thursday, from 9.30 am to 3p.m., Fridays from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 pm, and Saturdays from 9.30 am to 1pm. A BOB Express ATM, with instructions in Braille and Creole, is on premises and available for use 24 hours a day.
