THE Supreme Court case of a 12-year-old boy accused of having sex with a seven-year-old girl has been adjourned for a status hearing.
Yesterday, the accused, along with his mother and attorney Stanley Rolle, appeared before Acting Justice Wayne Munroe for jury empanelling and the commencement of trial.
He faces a charge of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, which he denies.
It is alleged that when he was 11, he had sex with a seven-year-old on December 7, 2011.
He was arraigned in Magistrates’ Court last December before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell and granted $1,000 bail with a surety and a 5pm curfew.
In his arraignment before Senior Justice Jon Isaacs in November of this year, the minor pleaded not guilty to the charge and his trial date was set for December 10 before Acting Justice Munroe.
However, the trial did not begin yesterday, as legal and pre-trial issues arose which resulted in discussions between the judge and attorneys.
Following these discussions, the matter was adjourned to December 17 for a status hearing.
Prosecutors Sandradee Gardiner and Raquel Whymms appeared for the Crown.

It really is unbelievable that such a young kid has been accused in a case like this. We really don't know which direction our future generation is taking. I have recently heard about a teenage boy who was trying to contact a http://www.tantricmassage.hk/">massage Hong Kong service provider desperately for few months. His parents have been informed about his acts.
