ROLLE CAMP

THE fourth annual Georgette Rolle Junior Golf Camp is slated to get underway 9am to 2pm today in the Golf Driving Range at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex. It is scheduled to wrap up at the same time and place on Saturday.

Rolle, one of the few Bahamian female players pursuing a professional golf career, said she is expecting approximately 160 inner city youth to attend, which will once again be free for all participants.

“The Georgette Rolle Junior Golf Camp is well on its way for its 2012 adventure,” Rolle said. “The camp is free to young people between the ages of 7-18. The camp is supported by the generous sponsors who also want to enhance the youth in the Bahamas. Each year, new participants learn the fundamentals of golf, but more importantly, that golf is a fun sport which can open up many doors in life.

“This year, through a partnership with Lignum Vitae Centre for Hope, the camp will expand its reach to impact more of the inner city youth, which is the camp’s main target audience. This is the camp’s fourth anniversary, so there are a few additions planned for the participants, which will hopefully help them to see that there is so much more to life if you are willing to open yourself to it.”

Interested persons wishing to be a part of this year’s camp can contact Yvonne Shaw at the BGF Range at 326-7415 or Lignum Vitae Centre of Hope at 676-9240.

Interested persons wishing to sponsor the camp this year can contact Ethelyn Davis at peggs01@coralwave.com or the previous contacts. Persons can also make their contribution at the Royal Bank of Canada JFK Branch on account number 7270374 Georgette Rolle Junior Golf Camp.
