What do you want for Christmas more than anything else in the world? Here are some things for us to pray about:
Peace on earth, especially here in the Bahamas, so that we can walk in the streets at night without fear, drive in any neighbourhood and ask questions if lost, get rid of bars, alarms, and barbed wire.
Joy that fills our hearts with a spirit of quiet contentment because we feel secure in our relationship with God and have no need to worry that we may be unlovable.
Faith to anchor us when the storm winds blow and we find ourselves in water that has no bottom to touch. A faith that informs our thoughts and actions creating an integrated wholeness that expresses itself in integrity.
Worship that is God-focused, spirit-filled and overflowing with praise and thanks for what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross, along with forgiveness that becomes a generous gift to self and others.
Love that pours from the heart into our own and on into the family, the church, the community and to the ends of the earth like concentric circles set in motion by a stone thrown into a pond.
Wisdom that operates as insight and foresight to govern our behaviour and tempers our temperaments.
Prosperity so that everyone has all the essentials and some of the comforts of life as well.
Hope to trust in the unfolding plan of God as it embraces us all in the blessings of God’s grace.
Health to be able to enjoy who we are and what we have as a people entrusted with a beautiful and wonderful part of God’s creation.
Humility to know that we have been chosen without merit or effort on our part to enjoy the kingdom of God here and inherit it in the hereafter.
This is really the central theme of the greatest story ever told and should come as no surprise.
