KENUTH Knowles, owner of Kenuth’s Electric, said he is filing legal action against Minister of Labour and National Insurance Shane Gibson in connection with statements broadcast on national television last week.
Speaking to The Tribune yesterday, Mr Knowles said: “I’ve had enough, I would like to see now if the law works.”
His lawyer yesterday sent letters to Shane Gibson, as well as to the general manager of ZNS and to Henry Storr Electric Co Ltd demanding a response to Mr Knowles’ claims of defamation.
Mr Knowles, the principal owner of the Harrold Road business, says he has been targeted by robbers as a result of the continuing row at the National Insurance Board.
Mr Knowles said he feels like a marked man since information was leaked on the internet alleging that he had received $8 million worth of contracts from NIB.
Last week, Minister Shane Gibson criticised the former government for allowing only one company to acquire millions of dollars in NIB contracts.
Speaking on a point of order in the House of Assembly, Mr Gibson took opposition leader Dr Hubert Minnis to task on how Kenuth Knowles, principal at Kenuth’s Electric, was able to pocket large sums of money, often trumping other contractors for work.
Mr Knowles’ lawyers demanded a response in three days to his letter, which involves statements made by Mr Gibson in an interview with ZNS news.
Last night, Mr Gibson said he was unaware of any writs filed against him, adding that he was out of the country.
