Man injured in shooting

POLICE are investigating a shooting incident that has left a 26-year-old Hospital Lane man in hospital. It happened around 7:55pm on Sunday.

Police say the victim was at Windsor Place off Soldier Road when he was approached by a car occupied by four men. One of the men shot him several times.

The men sped off in an unknown direction.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in serious condtion. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

In other crime news, officers of the Selective Enforcement Unit arrested four men found in possession of a quantity of what is suspected to be marijuana.

Police say officers executed a search warrant on a home on Dumping Ground corner around 4pm on Sunday where they uncovered the drugs.

According to Supt Paul Rolle, officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit, police are also questioning the men in connection with the shooting death of a man early Saturday morning.

Police say they received a call that gunshots were heard in the Baillou Hill Road area around 6:30am.

When they arrived at the scene they discovered a man in a striped polo shirt and blue jeans lying on the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead by EMS personnel.

Supt Rolle said no one has come forward to identify the victim.
