DRAMA unfolded on stage at the entertaining weekend play ‘The Other Woman’ by Redemptive Production. The event attracted a host of public figures and personalities, such as Member of Parliament Dr Andre Rollins; Director of Youth K Darron Turnquest, movie producer Tyrone Burrows of Get Charlie and Stop Likin’ Man and media personalities Christina ‘Chrissy Love’ Thompson, Dwight Strachan, Giles Wells, and Leslie ‘Lezz Boggie’ Ellis-Tynes.

Twin sisters Radel Pierre and Ranel Parks of Redemptive Productions amazed the audience with their dramatic stage play that told the story of Karen, a young beautiful and artistic married woman who found herself entangled in an extra-marital affair with Wade, her manager who is also married.

The story followed the ripple effect made by a series of decisions, as secrets became exposed and lives were caught in mix. At its core, the producers say the stage play is a story of the power of love, forgiveness and a look at how no one wins at the hands of deception, including a girl that never dreamt she would become the other woman.

“We did expect a great turnout and that’s what we received for all shows. In fact the matinée show surprised us most as our culture still prefers nighttime outings. However the matinées turnout was even better than we expected. We’re thankful for the tremendous show of support we received at all showings,” said Ms Parks.

She believes the audience received the messages in the play clearly, as in different scenes you could hear a pin drop, while in others, laughter and audience response was very vocal.

She said the audience knew the subject matter of the play had to be internalised, and some people were still processing emotions even after the play. “ We believe art forms should be functional, not just entertaining. If something moves us while we’re writing, moves the actors as they practice, why shouldn’t the audience be moved and stirred well after the play is over. We want lasting impact,” said Ms Parks.

Fans are already asking for an encore weekend, so others can see the play, said Ms Parks. She said the play will definitely tour the country and play again in Nassau. The next show will be Thursday, December 27 and Sunday, December 30. For more information visit www.redemptiveproductions.com.
