TWO men accused of committing three robberies last month were arraigned in Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.
Entering the courtroom in handcuffs and shackles, 20-year-old Stephen Greene, of Gamble Heights, and 19-year-old Anthony Greene, of Flamingo Gardens, appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez facing three charges of armed robbery and a charge each of causing grievous harm and breaking and entering.
It is claimed that the pair, on November 11, broke into the Wyndham Nassau Resort hotel room of Joseph Martineo, who was a guest at the resort.
It is also claimed that they robbed Michael Knowles on November 15 of goods and cash before causing grievous harm to him with a knife and on November 20 he is accused of robbing Jeremy Hughs of goods and Gate Strachan of a $5,000 Chanel watch.
Anthony Greene was further charged with receiving Strachan’s Chanel watch.
They were not required to enter a plea to the charges. They were told by Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez that their case would be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial through a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
That Bill will be served on May 15, 2013.
Before they were remanded into custody – as they were not eligible for bail because of the nature of the charges – the two men claimed to have suffered brutality while in police custody.
Chief Magistrate Gomez made a note of their complaints before remanding them to Her Majesty’s Prison where they will remain until completion of their trial.
