THE Bimini Big Game Resort & Marina will be sold out heading into the New Year’s Day holiday, according to general manager Michael Weber.
“We’re sold out as of last Thursday through New Year’s Day right now,” he told Tribune Business.
“We have a mixture of people from south Florida, some persons from the north-east and some long-term boaters that have been here for three to four weeks, so it’s a nice blend of visitors that we have here.
“We have the Montreal National circus here. That’s playing in the late afternoon, and we have had well over 100 people each day so far. The word is getting out and a lot of people are coming.”
Mr Weber said the resort was also gearing up for another successful Wahoo Smackdown in February, a tournament that attracted more than 60 anglers to Bimini Big Game last November.
“The next Wahoo Smackdown will be from February 21-23. That looks to be a good event,” Mr Weber said.
“The first tournament we had led to a spike in revenue for November. It was not a bad month, but you could definitely see the spike for that time period. We expect that for February as well. We are just trying to drive more business into the island, and to the resort, during the offseason and turn it into a high season.”
