MEMBERS of the Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union say they will take legal action if their questions about union elections are not addressed.
The members believe an election should take place this year but are still seeking confirmation from the Registrar of Trade Unions on the exact date of the vote.
Every three years the union - which has 4,000 members - holds elections.
The last election took place on April 27, 2010, but only after the results of two elections held in 2009 were overturned.
According to Dave Beckford, a former Chief Shop Steward and a proponent of holding the election this year, the three years should be measured from the 2009 election, even though that decision was overturned.
"Our rights are being infringed upon," he claimed.
Union executives disagree with this view, insisting that the last certified election was held in 2010.
