A 49-YEAR-OLD man died in hospital last night after being held up and shot in his home earlier that day.
According to police reports three men, one armed with a handgun, entered the victim's Wilson Tract apartment off East Street, demanding cash.
When the occupants refused to give in to demands, the gunmen opened fire hitting a 49-year-old man in his back, police said.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries some hours later.
This latest homicide brings the country's count up to nine for the year.
Two men remain hospitalised following two other separate shooting incidents over the weekend.
The first incident occurred around 12:30am on Saturday, when a 28-year-old man of Apache Alley, off Kemp Road was shot in his leg.
Police said the victim was in the Kemp Road area when he got into an argument with another man and was subsequently shot.
The victim was taken to hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding Sunday's second shooting are still unclear, according to police.
Police said the shooting occurred at a night club on Wulff Road. A 31-year-old man is also listed in serious condition.
Police say they are actively investigating all these incidents and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
