Two murders in Freeport

FREEPORT: Two men were murdered in the nation’s second city, pushing the country’s murder count to 74 for the year.

Calvin Stuart died shortly after 9.42pm on Wednesday in the Sunridge Road and Carrisa Street area.

Police said they were told that a man was stabbed and when they arrived they found the victim, who was 26 and lived in Freeport, lying on the ground.

He was taken to hospital by a private vehicle, but died of his injuries a short time later.

Around 12.15am on Thursday, police responded to a call in the Bruce Avenue area of Freeport where a man was reportedly shot.

When they arrived they found the victim, a 27-year-old, unresponsive with several bullet wounds in his body.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information on either of the murders to contact them at 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5 or 911.

Police also want the public’s help in locating the person or persons responsible for the death of 33-year-old Kirklyn Lightbourne.

Lightbourne was shot multiple times around 4am Saturday in the Yeoman Wood Area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.

Eight people have been killed in Grand Bahama this year.

the first 5 months of this year under the fnm we had 45 murders ,thats 9 murders a month ..under the first two months of the plp we had 28 murders ,thats 14 a month ,,i would give more time before judgement but their promise was ready on day one >>>>>>>>>>>>

I agree, they were blaming the then ruling party for the murders and placing signs all over the place. They were just being manipulative playing on the fears of the people. NO ONE can stop crime but God Himself. This nation has turned away from Him and good moral values long ago. What we’re facing today are because of broken homes as a result from so call adults sweet hearting and participating in immoral sexual behavior; as a result unwanted babies are brought into this world without a loving secure home. Subsequently they grow up with no discipline or self control.

i agree 100%,about the lack of morals and babies having babies out of wedlock..
