FREEPORT - A 27-year-old man was charged with murder in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court on yesterday.
Denie Osias was arraigned in Court Three before Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Jones. He was not represented by an attorney.
It is alleged that on July 11 the accused, while being concerned with another, intentionally caused the death of 26-year-old Calvin Stuart.
Stuart was stabbed several times near the corner of Sunridge Road and Carissa Street.
He was taken in a private vehicle to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Stuart’s death is classified as the island’s seventh homicide for the year.
Magistrate Jones informed Osias that he was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge and that a preliminary inquiry will be held in the matter.
He was denied bail and the matter was adjourned to October 2.
