‘A RELIGIOUS Evolution’ was the first-place winner of a photo competition to mark the 150th anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of The Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands.
The Right Reverend Laish Zane Boyd, Sr, Bishop of the Diocese, announced the winners during the Feast of John the Baptist.
First-place was Madison Hillhouse of St Anne’s Parish, New Providence with the photo “A Religious Evolution”.
Second-place winner was Renee O Lockhart of St Mary the Virgin Parish, with photo “Patronal Festival”, and third place winner was Mary Culmer of Church of The Ascension, Grand Bahama, with photo “Anglicanism Present......Future!”.
Amber G Whyley of St Gregory’s Parish, with the photo “Ecclescia Anglicana,” received honourable mention.
Renee O Lockhart, with the photo “Lenten Tea Party” and Madison Hillhouse, with the photo “Parents” also received honourable mentions.
The winners came from a number of entries around the Diocese.
The photo contest was the last event of 13 months of celebrations celebrating 150 years of Diocesan status and more than 360 years of Anglican presence in The Bahamas and The Turks & Caicos Islands.
The highlight of the celebrations was the 150th anniversary weekend of celebrations last November, which included the Diocesan Ball and the Thanksgiving Service, Procession, and the Blessing of the City of Nassau.
Other events celebrating the 150th anniversary included the Diocesan track and field sports meet, visits of provincial bishops to various Family Islands, an 18-month calendar, a fun run and walk, Easter egg hunt, and parish celebrations.
