Two charged over series of house break-ins

POLICE charged two men in Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with a string of house break-ins where more than $17,000 in cash, jewellery and electronics were stolen.

Romeo Lynes, 31, of Gamble Heights and Rolley Gibson Jr, 22, of Blue Hill Heights, appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez in Court One.

They faced nine counts of housebreaking, two counts attempted housebreaking, and nine counts each of stealing and receiving.

The men pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A third man, 23-year-old Takeil Tynes of Fire Trail Road, was charged along with the pair in connection with four of the incidents. He also pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Before he was charged with them however, the charges were read to Lynes and Gibson.

It is first alleged that the two, on July 21, broke into a woman’s home in Westridge Estates. 

Their alleged actions resulted in damages to the front door of the home, valued at $1,500.

It is further claimed that two days later, on July 23, the pair attempted five home invasions and succeeded in three of them.

It is claimed the pair tried to and were unsuccessful in getting into a home in Sea Beach Estates and another home on East Street south, both homes belonging to women.

Three homes that were invaded that day, July 23. The first belonged to a man in an unknown location according to court dockets.

A Dell laptop and 32 inch LG flat screen television were stolen though a value was not listed on the docket.

Lynes and Gibson are claimed to have been the culprits and are also accused of receiving the stolen items.

In the second home invasion on that day, $10,560 cash, brand-name jewellery and electronics were stolen from a woman.

The two again are accused of receiving these goods. 

In the last home invasion of that day concerning the defendants, an Apple Macbook laptop and BroxSonic TV together valued $2,300 were stolen and the men are claimed to have received them.

The following day, July 24, five home invasions took place at Blecker’s Street, Pinewood Gardens.

It is claimed that Lynes and Gibson broke into a man’s home and stole $1,050 worth of jewellery and received two items worth $350.

Regarding the next four home invasions, Takeil Tynes were charged along with Lynes and Gibson.

The trio are claimed to have broken into four other homes on the same street, and stolen jewellery and electronics, together valued at $3,515.

Their trial date has been set for September 11 before Magistrate Guilimina Archer in Court 10.

Romeo Lynes retained attorney Ian Cargill to defend him. 

The defendants were denied bail and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

I hope they are not using the money they stole to pay for the lawyer, now that should be illegal! This Lawyer have a job to do but he shouldn't be able to get pay with what could be other people money, if anything those people get there property back first and then he can get pay.
