TWO consecutive losses for the Bahamas meant elimination from the NACRA 15-a-Side Championships and IRB World Cup Qualification contention.

The Bahamas fell 16-8 to Bermuda in their second game of the North Zone group at the Winton Rugby Centre on Saturday.

Bermuda will defend its NACRA Caribbean Championship title at home against Guyana later this month.

The winners of the final will advance to the 2015 World Cup qualifiers in England.

Bermuda, ranked 49th in the IRB world rankings, are the top ranked side in the Caribbean. The Bahamas is ranked 86th in the region.

Bermuda won the Caribbean Championships for the first time in decades after beating Guyana 11-0 in Georgetown last year.

In game one, the Bahamas fell 27-7 to the Cayman Islands earlier this month. It was the first time Cayman had beaten the Bahamas since 2003.

Cayman played a tough opening match but lost 7-3 to Bermuda.

The Bahamas is ranked third overall in the Caribbean but fell to 87th overall in the International Rugby Board rankings. Bermuda is currently the top-ranked side with an IRB ranking of 48 and Guyana second with a ranking of 49. Trinidad and Tobago is ranked fourth, while Mexico rounds out the top five.
