Plea to find hit and run driver

POLICE are appealing to members of the public with information on a hit-and-run accident that left a woman in hospital to come forward.

According to reports, the woman was walking in the general area of Government High School last Wednesday when she was hit by a white vehicle, towing a small blue vehicle believed to be a Honda Hatchback.

Neither driver remained at the scene to assist the woman who, according to Inspector Chrislyn Skippings, has been released from hospital, but remains ill.

Police are continuing their investigations into the incident and are appealing to members of the public who might be able to assist them in identifying and locating the owners of the vehicles. They can contact police at 919, 322-3333/4 or the Traffic Police Station at 393-7204.

In other crime news, a 64-year-old man of Royal Beach Estates, is in hospital after being shot in one of his knees.

According to police reports around 6.20 am on Sunday the victim was asleep at his home with another family member when an armed man entered the home and demanded cash.

The culprit robbed the residents of an undisclosed amount of money and then shot the man in his knee.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.

Police are investigating and appealing to members of the public who may have information about the incident to contact them at 323-0853, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

A 33-year-old man of Sumner Street is in police custody after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana.

Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the suspect around 3.30pm on Friday at Sumner Street.

Active police investigations continue.
