THE Pineapple Air plane stolen last month is still in Haitian custody, as are three men found on board, according to the owner of the airline.
The 19-seater aircraft reportedly disappeared from the domestic terminal of the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) around 6 am on May 24.
Police were tight-lipped following the incident and Pineapple Air owner Kenneth Carey said yesterday details surrounding the plane's disappearance are scarce, even for him.
"The only thing I know so far is the plane departed without a flight plan and was discovered in Haiti," he said. "There they arrested the three persons that were onboard."
As to reports circulating of the plane being stolen for drug or human trafficking purposes, Mr Carey seemed unsure, but said: "I don't know - there was nothing really found on the plane."
He confirmed that Haitian authorities are still in possession of the aircraft more than three weeks after the incident.
Police sources have confirmed the men are Bahamian.

How could a plane just take off from an inteernational aiport without filing a flight plan? heads of those in charge of security at the airport should roll on an incident like this. What if someone steals a plane and heads to the US...of course they will most likely be intercepted by US military jets and shot down, bt will there not be repercussions for authorities here in the Bahamas?
