Baptist Health welcomes new medical director

NEUROSURGEON Harold J Pikus recently teamed up with the faith based health care organisation Baptist Health South Florida.

Proud to announce the partnership, Jack Ziffer, corporate vice president for Baptist Health Medical Group said Dr Pikus brings a wealth of academic and clinical experience in the area of radiosurgery to the organisation.

Dr Pikus is now medical director of Baptist Health Neuroscience Center's Radiosurgery program, which includes gamma knife, and is chief of neurosurgery at Doctors Hospital.

"Under the leadership of Dr Pikus, the radiosurgery program that includes gamma knife at Doctors Hospital will continue to offer the spectrum of treatments for patients with brain tumors," said Mr Ziffer.

According to members, Baptist Health International is one of the largest hospital-based International programs in the United States. Thousands of people travel to Miami each year from around the world to receive care from respected physicians at the Baptist Health South Florida facilities. The organisation is dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality services for international physicians and their patients, including hospital admissions, outpatient testing and physician consult, as well as other concierge services.

Also, Baptist Health South Florida is the largest faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare organisation in the region. Members noted that the organisation includes Baptist Hospital of Miami, Baptist Children's Hospital, South Miami Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Mariners Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute and Baptist Outpatient Services.

"Baptist Health offers a variety of executive healthcare services, including executive health physicals, wellness coaches and other healthcare services. Baptist Health Foundation, the organisation's fundraising arm, supports services at all hospitals and facilities affiliated with Baptist Health South Florida," members said.

Sergio Gonzalez-Arias, medical director of Baptist Health Neuroscience Center said: "With the addition of Dr Pikus, we are going to promote standardisation to continue to ensure the highest quality of care for patients who require specialized neurological treatment."
