FREEPORT - Grand Bahama resident Geneva Rutherford will be honoured as a community builder and for her contribution to the well-being of women.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of women's suffrage, Cia Monet in conjunction with the Grand Bahama Red Rose Ball Committee will host a Beauties@Brunch event on, Sunday, June 24.
The event will be held at 4pm at Canal House, Pelican Bay Resort.
Robbin Wachell, spokesperson, said the B@B celebrates fashion, sophistication, professionalism and poise, by coupling beauty and fashion with premium venues, food and wine.
She said that part proceeds will benefit the Red Rose Ball's charitable contributions to HIV/AIDS awareness in Grand Bahama.
Patricia Chiatti, of Cia Monet, believes that Mrs Rutherford is deserving of recognition because of her contributions to the community.
"We are so pleased to be honouring Mrs Geneva E Rutherford for our first event in Freeport," she said. "She is most definitely a community builder of Grand Bahama, and has contributed countless hours to help others."
Mrs Rutherford is currently spearheading a national partnership project with the Bureau of Women's Affairs.
She was very grateful for being recognised.
"To be publicly recognised at any time in one's professional life is a tremendous honour that few persons receive in spite of their efforts and the successes achieved.
"I am humbled and most grateful for being extended such an honour as you seek to promote recognition of major issues affecting women and the principles of the Bureau of Women's Affairs," she said.
"Please know that there are many, many other women on Grand Bahama who deserve this recognition for their personal sacrifices, contributions, and efforts in building communities of this island."
The event will also honour the efforts of the Red Rose Ball Committee, which is a non-profit group that promotes the message of HIV/AIDS awareness.
Mrs Chiatti said the event is not a female-only affair and men are encouraged to attend.
