THE Baptist Sports Council (BSC) is scheduled to begin its men's best-of-three first round playoffs at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex tonight.
The BSC completed its playoff picture Tuesday night as Golden Gates No.1 eliminated the Eagles Nest from the men's division A with a close 51-49 decision as Raynard Minus scored a game high 16 points and both Stephen Culmer and Khalil Roberts added six in the win. Kenneth Pratt came through with nine in the loss.
With the win, Golden Gates moved up to third place in the standings and will take on defending champions Temple Fellowship, who ended up in second in the regular season. They are slated to play 8pm tonight on court one.
In the opener on court one at 7pm, pennant winning Macedonia is all set to play fourth place Church of the Nazarene.
In the men's B division of the playoffs on court two, last year's runners-up Hope Centre, who finished in second place, is scheduled to take on third place Golden Gates No.1 in the opener at 7pm. The feature game at 8pm will showcase pennant winning St Mark's against fourth place BIBA.
Game two in all of the series is all set to be played on Saturday at noon and 1pm. Also, the league is scheduled to start the best-of-three playoffs for the 15-and-under and 19-and-under divisions.
In the 15-and-under division, fourth place St John's No.1 is slated to meet defending champions and pennant winning Macedonia at 10am on court one. On court two at the same time, third place Temple Fellowship will clash with last year's runners-up Eagles Nest, who finished second in the regular season.
At 11am on court one, fourth place Golden Gates will take on 19-and-under pennant winners Macedonia No.1 in one half of their playoffs. The other half played on court two at the same time will pit third place Macedonia No.2 against second place Eagles Nest.
Game two of both of the 15-and-under series will be played at 2pm while game three for the 19-and-under will be at 3pm. If necessary, the third and deciding games in any of the series above will follow.
The best-of-three championship will be played on Saturday, May 19.
In the other game played Tuesday that had no playoff bearing, Evangelistic Centre won 40-38 over St John's as Tyrone Sands posted a game high 19 points. S Dames had 10 in the loss.
