THE man who became the country's latest murder victim after he was shot and killed at his home has been identified by a police source as Lavardo Dean.
The 35-year-old, whose body was found by police on Monday bullet riddled and unresponsive on the front porch of the residence, has pushed the country's murder count to 53 for the year.
According to the police source, Dean was also known to police and had an extensive criminal record.
Police said they went to the scene after information was received that a man had been shot multiple times in the upper body.
When emergency medical services responded they determined the victim had died.
Police believe Dean was approached by a man wearing a red and blue 'Tommy' hooded jacket and a short blue pants who shot him several times.
Meanwhile, three men aged 42, 35 and 30 were taken into police custody after they were found with a large amount of suspected marijuana.
Police said that shortly after 2pm on Monday, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers, who were on routine patrol on Bernard Road near Thompson Street, saw the occupants of a champagne-coloured Dodge Caravan acting suspiciously.
Officers did a search of the car and discovered the drugs which weighed two pounds and have an estimated street value of $2,000.
Anyone with information should contact police.
