Collage Entertainment, creators of the Stop Likin Man series, have always been the trendsetters when it comes to viral Internet videos. And they did not allow the election season to pass without creating their share of silliness.
Poking fun at political contenders, Collage Entertainment introduced Bahamians to the Real Bahamian Party, a satirical political organisation that promised to do absolutely nothing in their first four years in office, and accomplish everything in their manifestos in the last year.
"We saw some of the inconsistencies in the different parties, even the independents and asked the question no one wanted to ask: What if we had an entire government full of dysfunctional candidates? Then we wondered, what if you gave a certain amount of funding to a group of candidates who had no idea whatsoever of where the Bahamas needs to go, but they know how to fling slander, sell dreams and promote nothing but blind quotes a smile and nice music? Then from there we ran with it," said Tyrone J Burrows of Collage Entertainment.
No RPB candidates showed up on the ballot in the 2012 General Election, but Mr Burrows said in 2017 they will surely be counted.
"We actually plan to hold a press conference. We find it impossible and unfair that we were not included in the ballot this past election. Have you seen our Facebook or our Collagedem Youtube page? We have followers. There was definitely foul play involved, and we intend to rectify this and win the 2017 elections."
Mr Burrows believes the group's social media base will carry over to the polls during the General Election 2017.
"The launch of the video was extremely well received. We were proud of our Bahamian voters who proved that they have a great sense of humor. Before the general elections we had over 800 likes on Facebook. In about two weeks on Youtube our launch video generated over 5000 views in two days. The launch video has about 18,000 right now and the other RBP shorts climb steadily behind it every day," he said.
Collage Entertainment has always been at the forefront of local Internet video. Making videos that are relevant is something they always keep in mind before they start shooting.
"In Collage we usually take special effort to make sure that we are as consistent as possible with launching new material and providing the Bahamas with good clean quality material that everyone can appreciate, enjoy and feel free to show others in good conscience. We also basically try our best to keep up to date with what's currently going on both in society and on the Internet social media wise to make sure it's relevant to our audience," Mr Burrows told Tribune Entertainment.
Though the video gives viewers a good laugh, Mr Burrows said it had a purpose, that was to get Bahamians to become conscious about the decisions they make.
"It is our role as Bahamians to listen first and foremost, analyze and then vote. We have a popular saying, 'Mouth can say anything'. The same applies to politics; look beneath the beautiful rallies and nice political commercials and make sure that the party you chose is actually making sense," he said.
Fans of Collage Entertainment can look forward to much more from the group in the future.
