THE Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) has announced the winner of its 2012 poster competition, artist Theo McClain.
The winning poster titled 'Junkanoo Blower' tells the story of the Bahamian spirit, said Mr McClain.
"The man depicted in this image, with his eyes closed, blows from his conch shell the music, the colours and the energy that characterises all we know to be true about the multicultural and multidimensional components of the Bahamian people," he said.
Mr McClain said he used an image he shot at Junkanoo as a reference for his poster.
"I carefully selected each shape and colour to best represent the feeling and emotion into a vector based image," he said, "freezing that distinctive moment into what I hope is a stimulating representation of the Bahamian soul."
A graduate a Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, Mr McClain is a partner and creative director of IDYA. His talents range from photographer printmaking to screen-printing, graphic design and illustration.
BIFF Junior poster winners included Dionne MRC Benjamin-Smith, Lise Andersson Logan and Lavar Munore.
