BAHAMAS Electricity Corporation (BEC) officials yesterday said customers whose services were disrupted during a recent thunder storm have now been reconnected.
Several customers throughout New Providence reported that their homes had no electricity after a severe storm on Tuesday.
Claiming that lightening, a heavy downpour of rain and high winds caused damage to some power lines, BEC through a press statement said they worked almost immediately to restore power to those affected homes.
The release said: "Emergency crews were dispatched as soon as weather conditions improved and teams worked into the early hours of Wednesday morning to complete the restoration process.
"At present, BEC teams are currently working to restore supply to several individual customers who were impacted by the storm. BEC officials advise that as the summer season approaches and severe storms become more frequent there is a possibility that electricity supply may be interrupted.
"Nonetheless, the Corporation remains committed to ensuring that, in instances when there are outages, supplies are restored in the shortest possible time."
Customers with electricity supply problems are encouraged to contact BEC's 24 hour Emergency Hotline at 323-5561-4 or 302-1800.
