STUDENT Nadja Simon has been awarded $6,000 after being named the Primary School Student of the Year.
The student, of the Genesis Academy in Nassau, received her award on Saturday at the Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries on Carmichael Road.
Also present was Anna Albury, the blind girl who scooped last year's award and who went on to catch headlines around the world when she gave a speech at the new national stadium during the visit of Prince Harry to the Bahamas.
Minister of Education, Science and Technology Jerome Fitzgerald gave a speech at the event.
Students from government and independent primary schools throughout the country were saluted for their outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievements.
