This is also an unpleasant area to pass anytime of the day. I often have to be vigilant of drunks and rowdy people walking into traffic shouting obscene words. The liquor store across from the Hilton is another rowdy part of town where I am embarrassed by the behavior of my fellow Bahamians.

I don't understand why a night club was allowed to go in to that building, it's poor public planning. That just perpetuates the nastiness of the area which by the way, is the FIRST THING people who leave Paradise Island see on their way to spend $$ in Nassau. No wonder they hardly come over the bridge! It's scary in that area, I don't blame them!

The Fact we seem to overlook is we have a major crisis in this country..not unlike the days of the Hatfields and the McCoys, family killing up each other so much so that they had to have their own family graveyard. (Hatfields and McCoys and others in West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky)> In our case it may be drug boys killing up each other or gangs waring but in any event too many footsoldiers and 'innocent' Bahamians, more specifically young, potientially productive men, are being killed while the 'generals 'are hiding in the shadows or otherwise being protected. The authorities (police) need to flush the gang leaders and big time drug lords out of their hiding places and drag them before the courts..Not until then will the killings stop..and if it is not done soon wholesale loss of life and mass shootings will increase. If over 12 people can go to or enter a club strapped to the teeth then engage in a shootout, that should tell you how grave this situation is..

when the late inspector Archibald Archie Miller was living all da drug lords use to skip town when they heard he was coming for them and now that he has past it looks like there isn't any other officers who are will to go above and beyond like he did he was truely a legend

Who is the owner? Wasn't there another shooting at the same spot recently? Will this finally cause their business license to be revoked? Also, heading out west yesterday afternoon saw a parked police car and gun-carrying-vest-wearing policemen outside an open-air 'establishment', with the initials CG, just up from St. Alban's Drive. Rowdy atmosphere, rough crowd. Blond tourist couple were actually running away with looks of panic on their faces. "Nassau gone funky" as the song says.

BTW, students who are refusing to be disciplined by teachers in school are now reminding teachers that "Hubert dem gone now" - interpreted law and order is no longer and threatening "we in power now"
