WHILE the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association hosted its final trials for the men's Davis Cup team, the BLTA also staged a one-day clinic for its junior male and female players at the National Tennis Center over the weekend.
Anthony Jeremaih, the International Tennis Federation's junior development officer for the region, conducted the clinic.
The BOA, now under the presidency of Derron Donaldson, is focusing a lot of its attention on the junior players.
In fact, the men's Davis Cup team is virtually a new one with only Marvin Rolle and Rodney Carey having the experience competing at that level.
The team, made up of Rolle, Carey, Philip Major and Jody Turnquest, will be captained by Dentry Mortimer who serves as the director of the BLTA's youth development programme.
Today, Donaldson and his new executive board is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Bahamas Olympic Committee.
The executives also intend to pay a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Danny Johnson.
And the executives are also looking at travelling to Grand Bahama where they intend to pay a courtesy call on the Port Authority as well as meet with the local coaches, players and parents.
