Bowling bash for breast cancer

Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support group ended Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a bowling bash that brought together survivors, their families, private companies and the general public.

Darlene Sands organised the final event, which was held at Mario’s Bowling and Entertainment Palace. The venue was transformed into a pink wonderland of surprises in support of the cause.

The tournament, named in honour of Cindi Smith, brought the Smith family together to support the many teams that participated, including: Gigatech, the winning team; Pink Roses, second place winners; and BTC Night Hawks, which took home the third place trophy. Other participating teams were Callendars & Co, Special Olympics Team, and Richard Symonette and friends.

“It was an exciting event which successfully raised money for Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group. The group is a vital part in the fight against breast cancer in the Bahamas. It provides crucial ports that are often too expensive for the victims, but are necessary for chemotherapy treatment. Sister Sister also provides medicines and can support important scans which must be conducted abroad, and they also provide emotional support,” said organisers.
