The Anglican Cursillo Movement of the Bahamas is hosting Cursillo Explosion next week, an event that is intended for all who seek to enhance their Christian walk.
Cursillo is a Spanish word that means a short course in Christianity. It was started in Spain in the early 1940’s and was intended to renew the men within the church. However, women were eventually allowed thus propelling the movement into an orbit where it is now the premier renewal movement of the church.
“There is the Pre-Cursillo, where Cursilliastas pray and encourage non Cursilliastas to be involved in Cursillo activities, as a forerunner to the Cursillo Weekend. This normally begins on a Thursday and runs to a Sunday evening. You may describe it as a retreat. But it is actually a teaching packed time enhanced with fun and fellowship. Christianity is taught as a course on this weekend. You know the faith in a way you never did before. The Post Cursillo is referred to as your fourth-day. You have a plan by which you try to live the Christian life. So then Cursillo is intended to come and stay as long as you live. More than two thousand Bahamians have thus far benefited from attending Cursillo,” said Fr. S. Sebastian Campbell, spiritual director.
The schedule of activities include: Thursday 15th November, 7:00p.m. Mass of Thanksgiving at Christ the King, Ridgeland Park West. (Preacher – Fr. Bradley Miller, Rector of St. Luke, South Eleuthera); Friday 16th November, 7:00p.m. Mission/Ultreya at St. Gregory’s the Great (A Renewal Experience); Saturday 17th November 9:00a.m. Worship and A.G.M.
