Dead Foetus found in hospital parking lot

FREEPORT – Police are trying to determine how a dead foetus ended up in the parking lot near the Rand Memorial Hospital at the weekend.

According to police reports, the discovery was made sometime around 9:28am on Friday.

Inspector Terecita Pinder, press liaison officer, reported that police received information that the body of a foetus was found lying on the ground under a vehicle in the southern parking lot across from the Rand.

Officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate. A doctor at the Rand Memorial Hospital pronounced the foetus dead.

Inspector Pinder said investigations are continuing into the matter.

ARRESTS IN BIMINI

In other crime matters, seven persons have been arrested for various serious criminal offences during a police operation in Bimini.

Inspector Pinder reported that “Operation Bimini” was executed by a team of officers from Bimini, along with officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit around 8am on Friday.

Several suspects were taken into police custody in connection with murder, harbouring a criminal, and possession of firearms, including one black .40 Glock pistol, one Herschel pistol with extended magazine with 5.7 rounds of ammunition, and .40 hollow tip magazines.

Inspector Pinder said police also arrested one person in connection with the seizure of some 2,300lbs of illegal drugs on November 2, in Bimini.

All matters are under active police investigations.
