AFTER recently participating in Fash|Art 2012, Bahamian body painter Selina Sweeting is gearing up for another show. She is set to debut her latest work along with four international visual artists in a show called VOGA.

This year the show will feature two Canadian and American artists. It will be held at Superclub Breezes on November 18 beginning at 6pm. Each artist will paint three models for the runway show and one model will be painted live on stage.

“Voga is the vision of gifted artists because each artist has their unique style and will have a platform to display their gift here in the Bahamas for Bahamians to enjoy. You won’t find anything like this, only in Vegas. We have 40 confirmed body painted and fashion models. Each artist will have their personal theme for their segment of runway show,” she said.

Selina said VOGA will be bigger and better than her previous shows. Back in 2010, she first introduced herself at a nude gallery still image show entitled Crazy Beautiful. This event was a collaboration between herself and two Bahamian photographers Kovah Duncomber and Lamon Bethel.
Selina also recently debuted her body paintings at Fash/Art 2012. Her piece, a metallic blue butterfly, was inspired by a body art rendering she saw while in New York. The UV body painting was something Selina also learned this year at an international face and body conference.

“I participated in the event for the exposure. I met a number of wonderful artists and got an opportunity to share my skills with a large audience many of which never knew I existed. My annual show is the only opportunity to showcase to the world of body art. But Fash|Art gave me another avenue to share my love,” Selina told Tribune Arts.
