A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has been accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl aged seven.
The boy, appearing before Senior Justice Jon Isaacs along with his mother, was arraigned on a charge of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, which he denies.
It is alleged that when he was 11 he had sex with a seven-year-old on December 7, 2011.
He was arraigned in the magistrates’ court last December before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell and granted $1,000 bail with a surety and a 5pm curfew.
Last Friday he pleaded not guilty to the charge, and Director of Public Prosecutions Vinette Graham-Allen told the judge that due to the nature of the case and the circumstances, the Crown was requesting a trial date as early as December 3.
December 10 was the date agreed upon by counsel with the trial set to be heard before Acting Justice Wayne Munroe.
The boy is scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court on November 23 for a status hearing.
