Teenager questioned over shooting that leaves man fighting for his life

POLICE are questioning a teen in connection with a shooting that left a 29-year-old man in hospital fighting for his life.

The incident reportedly took place around 10.45pm on Wednesday.

The victim was reportedly inside a business establishment on Carmichael Road which the police refuse to name, when four armed men entered and opened fire on him.

He was hit several times and was rushed to hospital by ambulance, where he was last night listed in serious condition.

A 19-year-old man was detained a short time later and taken to the Carmichael Road Police Station.

In other crime news, a 44- year-old Kenwood Street man is in police custody after the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana.

Police say shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, officers from the Mobile Division executed a search warrant on a home and discovered the drugs, weigh 11 pounds and have an estimated street value of $11,000.

A 32 year old Newbold Street man is also in police custody and being questioned after the discovery of a large quantity of copper wire.

Officers from the South-Central Police Station detained the man around 2.40pm on Wednesday.

According to reports, they were on routine patrol on Baillou Hill Road near Robinson Road when they intercepted a blue Sentra occupied by three men and discovered the wire.

Two of the men evaded police, however, the driver was arrested and is assisting police with their investigations.
