A 23-year-old man became the country’s latest traffic fatality when he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a utility pole.
Police say the victim, who sources identify as Tereno Lemont Rolle, of Big Pond, was riding a red and white Honda trail motorcycle west on Shirley Street near Lovers Lane when the accident happened around 4am yesterday.
He sustained major head trauma and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police at the scene said that he was not wearing a helmet.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the cause of the car crash that claimed the lives of three people on Saturday.
It happened around 11.45pm on the SC Bootle Highway in North Abaco.
Police say the woman driver of a black 1999 Honda Civic was travelling north on the highway when she collided with a silver 2002 Cadillac Deville travelling south.
The impact of the crash caused the Honda Civic to flip over several times before landing on its side.
The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Caneska Rolle of Coopers Town, North Abaco. She died at the scene.
Her front seat passenger, 22-year-old Shenique McIntosh, also of Coopers Town, was taken by ambulance to the Coopers Town clinic but died of her injuries around 1.33am Sunday.
A third passenger, Stephon Clarke, 33, of Cedar Harbour North Abaco, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the capital for medical treatment.
He died around 5am Sunday on route to the hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle reportedly received minor injuries and was treated at the scene and discharged.
His passenger, 17-year-old Shavado Smith, of Fire Road North Abaco, reportedly sustained a broken left leg and right arm. He was also airlifted to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
Active investigations continue.
