THE latest inspirational novel to hit Christian books stores comes from young Bahamian writer Felicia Archer and tells the story of her darkest times and most difficult challenges.
With her first published book, titled “She Found Herself”, Felicia said she hopes to send a positive and encouraging message to the country’s youth.
Speaking with Tribune Religion, the 19-year-old author said the book was inspired by real-life experiences. Felicia said some of the most important people in her life had a huge influence on her book coming to fruition.
“The name of the book is one that is indeed divine because I actually began writing the book without the name. I could recall the Holy Spirit pressing upon me to call Prophetess Deborah Elliott, and I did. So during our conversation the Lord spoke through her and gave me the name of the book.”
She said the book speaks about her personal life and some of the darkest and most devastating moments she had to experience as a teenager.
“The book also talks about the Holy Spirit who birthed in my spirit this divine idea, as well as my best friend Lizttice Pratt Fernander, who lost her life to leukaemia at the age of 18. She was always my number one fan,” said Felicia.
“I talk about the youth of our nation both locally and throughout the Family Islands. They inspired me, because many times after sharing my story or my testimony they would always ask me, ‘when are you going to write a book?’ It ignited the desire in me wanting to write a book and to be honest. The entire book is my favourite because each part contributed to me becoming the person that I am today and propelled me into fulfilling my God-given purpose, whether it may be good or bad.”
Felicia said she began writing at the age of 15. While her first book, “The True Meaning of Agape Love”, was not published, Felicia said she hopes her new book will enlighten readers in many ways.
The young author said the hardest part to write was chapter five, which is entitled “On the Wide Road to Hell”. The chapter speaks about a “Damascus Road” experience that she had to live through. She said this experience opened her eyes and helped her to surrender her life to the Lord.
Felicia’s book launch and signing will be held at the 100 Percent Bible Bookstore at the Mall at Marathon on Saturday between the hours of 3pm to 6pm.
