POLICE are requesting the public’s assistance in locating two men responsible for a armed robbery and stabbing.

The incident reportedly occurred around 6.30pm on Friday.

Police say a 19-year-old Pinewood man was in Hope Gardens when he was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife.

The culprits robbed the man of an undisclosed amount of money and a blackberry phone, then stabbed him in the shoulder.

The victim was taken to hospital in a car. He was treated and later discharged.

Anyone with information that might assist police with their investigation is asked to call 919, 322-3333/4 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 328-TIPS.

In other crime news, police removed two firearms from the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents.

The first incident took place around 6.30pm Friday.

Police say officers from the Central Division conducted a search of a white 2007 Ford Explorer in the area of Granger and Dunmore Streets and discovered a high powered weapon and a large quantity of ammunition.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Skyline Drive man, was arrested and is being held for questioning.

In the second incident, officers from the Mobile Division and the K-9 Unit arrested a 16-year-old who lives in Masons Addition after the discovery of a handgun.

According to reports, officers were on routine patrol near Wulff Road around 11pm on Saturday when they saw two men acting suspiciously.

The men ran when they noticed the officers and were seen throwing an object into nearby bushes.

Police arrested the teen a short time later and he is now helping with their investigation.

Officers conducted a search of the bushes and discovered the weapon.
