Could it be a double sweep for Bommer G

Both Bommer G teams will look to close out their respective NPSA Championship series tomorrow night, threatening to sweep with commanding 3-0 leads.

The NPSA will return to action Tuesday at 7pm at the Bankers Field at Blue Hills Sporting after suspending play for the holiday weekend.

In the men’s division, the Truckers defeated the Dorin United Hitmen by a 1-0 score for the second time in the series, while in the ladies division, the Operators completed their second shutout of the Lady Hitmen, 10-0.

Ramon Johnson delivered a game winning RBI to score Eugene Pratt in the seventh inning.

Adney Bethel once again delivered at the mound with 13 strikeouts.

In game one, a double by Orlando McPhee in the fifth inning to plate Darren Mortimer was the was the game’s only score in a match dominated by both aces from the mound.

Bethel delivered 12 strikeouts in the win, while Alcott Forbes struck out 11 strikeouts in the loss.

Mortimer finished 1-2 with a run, Orlando McPhee finished 2-2 with one RBI.

The Hitmen had an opportunity to tie the game in the sixth inning, however William Delancey was thrown out at home plate trying to stretch a triple into an in the park home run.

In game two, Bethel got the better of Alcott Forbes once again in another pitcher’s duel, delivering 13 strikeouts to led the Truckers to a 5-0 win.

Forbes started game two and attempted to overcome the effect of an injured leg which came on a controversial play in game one, when Bethel swung a bat wildly which struck Forbes in the leg.

Mortimer went 2-3, scored one run, run RBI, Bethel went 1-2 with a double, Teran Wood, Marvin Wood, Ramon Johnson and Van Johnson also scored runs for the Truckers.

For the Hitmen, Kieron Munroe finished 1-2 with a double, while Jemico Sands and Hosea Hilton each went 1-3.

The ladies series opened with a 14-7 win for the Operators as their high powered offense continued to roll.

Shanell Symonette was the game’s winning pitcher while Thela Johnson was tagged with the loss.

The Operators offense was led by Lethira Brown who finished a perfect 2-2 at the plate accompanied by three runs and one RBI, Antonia Simmons was 2-3 with two runs and two RBI and Vantrice Bowleg was 2-4 with two runs and two RBI.

The Lady Hitmen were led by Lashan Fowler who finished 2-3 with two RBI, Johnson was 1-2 with two runs and Rondell Cooper was 1-3 with two runs.

In game two, another dominating performance from the mound was the difference as Desiree Coakley pitched two hitter in the 10-0 win.

The Lady Operators offense was led by Christine Edmunds went 3-3 with two runs and two RBI, Brown was 2-5 with two runs and two RBI, Dorothy Marshall scored twice and Agatha Butler went one 1-3 RBI.

The Operators eliminated the YII Shipping Lady Wildcats to secure their berth into the final after they took the best-of-five series with a 3-2 advantage.

The Lady Hitmen, swept aside the defending champions Proper Care Pool Lady Sharks capped by a 10-0 shutout in game three of the series.

On the men’s side, the Hitmen completed the sweep of the YII Shipping Bulldogs, while the Truckers eliminated the Blue Chips Buccaneers in the other semifinal.

The two winners in the championships will advance to represent the NPSA in the Bahamas Softball Federation’s National Round Robin Championship series next month.
