POLICE have issued a plea to motorcyclists to wear the proper safety gear following a Sunday evening crash that has left two young men dead.

This is the second accident in a week that has ended in a fatality and press officer Sergeant Chrisyln Skippings urged motorcyclists to take every precaution they can.

“I was not at the scene, so I can’t speak to whether these men had on their helmets, but I certainly encourage all motorcyclists to wear the proper protection, including helmets and arm and knee pads. The reality is that accidents can and do happen, but we want to ensure that cyclists minimise the exposure to injury and death,” she said.

Although the police have not issued an official identity, the two victims are believed to be George Outten and Roscoe Seymour.

  Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of a 1996 Toyota Mark 11 was travelling west on West Bay Street, with the motorcyclist and his passenger, going east on West Bay Street, when the two collided.

Both men on the motorcycle were critically injured. One was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. Active police investigations continue.
