PULL out your calendars, join in the fun and help raise money for the Bahamas Humane Society.

On Tuesday, October 30, the society holds a quiz night at the Green Parrot, Nassau side. Registration fee is $10.00 per person in teams of up to six people. Come out, join in, and test your trivia skills.

There are still spaces available in the society’s Fall Camp on October 31. Camp runs 9 am to noon and is $30.00 for ages 5 - 12.

The 31st is Halloween, which brings firecrackers.

The society says please be sure to keep your animals secured, and that they have identification so they can get them back to you should they run off.

The BHS Ball is Friday, November 9 at the Crown Ballroom, Atlantis.

Cost is $275 per person or $175 for juniors (30 and under).

Tickets for the glamorous evening are available at the Shelter and at Goodfellow Farms.

The next Operation Potcake planning meeting is Thursday, November 15th at 6 pm at the BHS Shelter.

Jollification is Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18.

The BHS will be having a table again this year, and they are looking for volunteers to help run it.

The Cole’s of Nassau and Morley for Men Annual Holiday Luncheon & Fashion Show in aid of the BHS will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, Cable Beach.

Donation is $100. Please contact Cole’s of Nassau for more information.

Operation Potcake training weekend is Saturday, November 24 and Sunday, November 25.

If you are volunteering for this campaign, please make every effort to attend.

Christmas cards are now available.

The society has a wide selection this year, including a Melissa Maura original, three Patricia Vazquez photos and a collection of children’s artwork done by the students of Ob Shanti Studios After-school Programme.

Cards are available at the shelter and at the ball and Jollification.

Operation Potcake is January 10 to 21, 2013 and aims to sterilise 2,000 dogs and cats. For more information, please contact potcake2013@gmail.com.

The BHS Animal Fun Day is Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Botanical Gardens.

Nominations are being accepted for the BHumane Award. Send your nominations in to the BHS, attention Kim Aranha, President. Entries must be in by January 1, 2013.

The BHumane Banner Campaign banners will go up in early February.

If you’d like to see your pet on a banner, please contact us.

Cost is $350 to sponsor a banner, and people will be able to keep the banner afterwards.

The BHS Raffle is coming up soon.

Tickets will be $100 and there are many prizes in the works.

The raffle draw / disco night will be held towards the end of March.

The BHS also said goodbye this month to Inspector Stephen Turnquest.
