A Dominican and Turks Islander are expected to be arraigned today after they were accused of possessing more than $2.5 million worth of suspected cocaine.
According to reports, a joint operation between the RBPF Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers resulted in the arrest of two men on Thursday.
Police say around 4:30pm, DEU and DEA officers conducted a Joint Operation on North West Cay, an Island North off Great Inagua, that led to the discovery of 345 pounds of cocaine with a street value $2,520,000.
The two men, ages 41 and 44, were arrested in connection with this discovery and are assisting DEU Officers with their investigations.
Meanwhile in Nassau, police also seized four firearms during a raid on a local night club.
According to reports, shortly after 2am officers from the RBPF Selective Enforcement Team (SET) conducted a search of a local nightclub located on Nassau Street, where they found four handguns along with a quantity of ammunition.
No one was arrested. Active investigations are continuing.
About two hours later, officers from SET arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with armed robbery and possession of stolen property.
Police say around 4am officers were on patrol on Wulff Road when they intercepted the suspect in a Honda Accord.
The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a quantity of jewellery and cell phones, suspected to have been stolen.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Police also arrested three men, ages 22, 19 and 20, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at the Pineville Food Store located at Nicholl’s Town, Andros on yesterday.
They are expected to appear in court, early this week.
