US citizen drowned

POLICE are investigating the death of a man thought to be a US citizen who drowned in waters at Exuma.

The man, who hasn’t been named, was found floating shortly before 10pm on Saturday.

It is the 18th drowning death in 12 weeks.

Last Tuesday, September 4, a 27 year old tractor driver died after he and the tractor dropped into 60 feet deep water at a rock quarry plant in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

On September 1, a 17-month-old boy drowned in an open well in Freeport.
On August 16, in waters off Kemp’s Bay, Andros, a 20-year-old man of Drigg’s Hill drowned while fishing with four other men.
In Nassau, on July 29, a 42-year-old man of Saxon Way drowned while swimming in waters off Long Warf Beach.
On Independence Day, July 10, a 33-year-old man of Adelaide Village was found floating and unresponsive near a jet ski on Adelaide Beach.
In Grand Bahama, on June 17, a 61-year-old cruise ship passenger from Pennsylvania USA drowned while snorkelling.
She had experienced breathing difficulties and was pronounced dead at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
On June 11, 12 Haitians reportedly died in waters off Crown Haven, North Abaco when a vessel transporting 28 immigrants capsized.
