THERE are only few musicians who take pleasure in blowing out candles and celebrating a birthday in the presence of fans.
International reggae artist Jah Cure is one of those artists. Next month, he will host a slew of events in the Bahamas to celebrate his birthday and his success thus far.
Jah Cure is no stranger to the Bahamas.
He recently hit the stage at the highly anticipated “Increase The Peace” concert featuring other reggae artists including Capeleton and Tanya Stephens. The artist left what he calls his “second home” but will be back to throw himself a birthday bash.
In an exclusive interview with In Ya Ear Jah Cure said, when he returns to the Bahamas he will make rounds to several islands, to mix and mingle with locals, and give fans the opportunity to celebrate his birthday on October 11.
“I will be back for my birthday which is a big celebration. My wife will be here and my little daughter so it is going to be a special weekend. I am going to perform live with my band at Marios during the evening for the kids. Then later I will do the after party and the cake cutting, give away some t-shirts and the fans can come and mingle, shake hands and meet my family,” he said. Before the big bash at Mario’s Bowling and Entertainment Palace, Jah Cure will start the festivities in Abaco.
“We are starting it in Abaco then we will go to Freeport, just giving the different islands a little piece of the celebration and then the big bash will be in Nassau. It’s a special weekend everyone can come meet my family and can take a picture. I do not usually do this, especially with my family, but I love the Bahamas and I want them to meet and see my family,” he said.
The time and venues for events on the Family Islands have not been confirmed as yet.
Jah Cure’s upcoming birthday celebration in the Bahamas will not be the first or the last. The artist said he has fallen in love with the Bahamas and the people so much, he wants to celebrate October 11, every year in the Bahamas.
“Every year, starting from this October, you can expect me to be in the Bahamas. I never had a bad day in the Bahamas yet when it comes to shows so I want to celebrate with my fans in the Bahamas annually. I won’t be coming here for shows five times a year, but I want to build up anticipation for the event,” Jah Cure told In Ya Ear.
Other than fishing in our waters, chilling at Arawak Cay, or hitting up the hottest hang out spots on the island, one thing Jah Cure has yet to do is collaborate with a Bahamian artist.
The closet thing to a collaboration with a Bahamian artist, Jah Cure said, was when singer Raquel Oliver remade his hit song “Before I Leave”.
However, for this birthday celebration he is “looking forward to meet with some of them”. “For this event I will need some local artists to be the opening acts.”
Jah Cure’s calendar is full, with appearances and tours in several countries.
The next stop before making his way back to the Bahamas in October will be Trinidad and Tobago.
“I am just coming off my European tour, afterwards I am going off to Trinidad this month. After my birthday, I will be going to Africa to do an African tour,” he said.
