DEPUTY House Speaker Dion Smith was allegedly involved in an argument that led to a security guard being assaulted, it was claimed in a document filed in the Supreme Court yesterday.
The allegations claim that Mr Smith entered the security booth outside the building where he lives and spilled a drink on the guard, before a companion identified as “Derrick, who was with him most of the time,” assaulted the guard, damaging his clothing in the process.
The document, a security incident report form, claimed that on September 4, 2012, Mr Smith went to the Pilot House security booth after the gate failed to open.
The security guard, who filed the report, claimed that Mr Smith asked him to open another gate for him.
The report said: “I told him I cannot because Pilot House Management Company gave me a list of condo numbers where assistance should not be extended to residence (sic), guests and service personnel entering the complex. All persons on the list should be left to enter using their gate cards and keys.
“MP Dion Smith failed to accept what I explained to him and took it upon himself to come into the booth. He became upset and tried to open the gate so I stood in front of the button which controls the gate.
“MP Dion Smith had a cup with drink in his hand and was still trying to open the gate. He was standing very close to me and some of the drink spilled on me, I then moved and tried to stop him from opening the gate.
“Derrick, who was with him most of the time, came in an assaulted me which also resulted in him popping my tie and button off my shirt. MP Dion Smith then told Derrick to let me go, but still tried to get at me so I moved from the gate control and began calling the police.
“At that time, when I picked up the phone to call the police, MP Dion Smith made a comment to say that he knows Commissioner Greenslade and dialed the number on his phone and I heard him say “Commissioner Greenslade, this is Dion Smith, if you get this message, give me a call, it’s urgent!” and he hung up his phone.
“While I was still on the phone with the police, he was able to gain access to the gate control and opened the gate himself. The police never arrived.”

Hurts say but I gotta speak the truth. This type of alleged entitlement arrogance was not put on public display by the colleagues of the former red shirts lawyer/ fisherman leader from Cooper's Town.
He former, trusted law partner best do what he didn't have a big enough set of testicles 2002 - 2007 to do, quickly squeeze theirs as far away from his government as possible?
So, PM get with it and suspend the member from all public functions until the alleged police matter is sorted out.
PM don't wait this time around, best you appoint a "Sheriff Johnston" to police them ahead of time, cause some them new Comrades, and from the ranks of the reappointed, for sure can't help shooting the head Sheriff?

truth242 - I think that you mis understood Tal.
He was saying that this should not be tolerated and that stuff like this never happened under the FNM and if it did it was dealt with right away by HAI. He also advised PGC to deal with it right away.
Good job TAL - you are spot on!

Not surprised at all. Those who know certain things about persons mentioned would not be surprised either. These are the people who make up the government of The Bahamas. If we Bahamians actually had shame, we would be hanging our heads in it, but alas, we don't - so people like these will remain just where they are, and even get promoted. Welcome to The Bahamas.

Honourable House of Assembly
The above term no longer an acurte discription of 'that place'.
It hasn't been for a long time, possible never!
This is not a political opinion against either PLP or FNM or independent.
Well, then again it is - against all of them.
Very few are honourable. A few sprinkled on each side.
Few and far between!

WRONG AS IT MAY BE, THERE ARE SOME UNDERLYING ISSUES THAT WE ARE NOW BEING MADE AWARE OF. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE "ASSOCIATION" IN WILLED WITH FOREIGN AND OCCASION PERSONS THAT HAVE INDICATED THROUGH THEIR ACTIONS THAT THEY WANT PILOT HOUSE TO BE "LOCAL FREE". IN THE BAHAMAS? DION MAY HAVE DEALT WITH IT WRONGLY. HE WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT, IM SURE HIS CONSTITUENTS WILL SYMPATHIZE WITH HIM. AND THIS WILL HIGHLIGHT SOME REAL AND SERIOUS ISSUES OF SEPARATISM AND FOREIGN FIRST IN THE BAHAMAS. WE SHAL SEE

Sounds to me that Mr. Smith doesn't think he has to pay his condo fees. Doesn't seem like it has anything to do with race, religion, or origin, but rather someone doesn't think they have to pay their share.
I wonder how many months, or years, he hasn't paid his share!

Pilot House is a condo and it sounds like the condo associations was denying him access to things. Wonder why? Hummm, maybe he hasn't paid his condo fees for 'how long'.
Mr. Smith, pay you condo fees and none of this would have happened!
